Some of my earliest memories as a child are from moments of awe and wonder experienced in the rainforest of Northern New South Wales, Australia. After growing up in the Southern Highlands, still fascinated by forest plants and animals and the way they interact, I enrolled at university in Far North Queensland to be nearer to the rainforest. Eventually I undertook doctoral research into the impacts of climate change on biodiversity of rainforest birds. Many silent hours within its vaulted shade however, revealed in the forest a wonderful meditation teacher, and it soon led me to a more holistic approach to “interbeing” articulated in the language of the Dharma.

Chinese

I’m posting here resources I’m finding useful for my own very tentative steps toward the study of Chinese language, with the aspiration to learn enough classical Chinese to read Buddhist texts.

It is a challenging language to learn, but richly rewarding, as it conveys ideas concerning the science of mind which are difficult to translate into modern languages. Here I share information about upcoming and past retreats, talks and other events. You will also find a small and searchable library of resources, such as audio and video recordings, links, suggested readings, and downloadable text resources (chanting, glossaries etc.). Here you will also find a summary of my journey so far, my practice and study interests, and a way to contact me (if I don’t reply quickly, its because I have “gone to the forest” ;).
