In the Karaṇīya Mettā Sutta, the Buddha encourages the cultivation of love as an antidote to fear and anxiety — “whether standing, walking, sitting, or lying down, as long as one is awake, one should cultivate this mindfulness.” In this Plum Village–inspired Day of Mindfulness, we explored the topic of love, along with basic practices of mindfulness in daily life that help integrate the key cultivations of loving kindness, compassion, joy and equanimity into all aspects of our lives. All were welcome, no meditation experience necessary.
