A full day of practice and connection at Currumbin Ecovillage, offered freely by Br. Tenzin (donations welcome), in three parts: a peace walk, a talk, and an evening community meditation.
Inspired by the 2,300-mile Walk for Peace across America, all were welcome to meet at 8:30am at the Shambhala Haven Labyrinth, 10 Wongaree Way (Highlands), or join in as the walk continued down Forest Way — stopping at the Currumbin Creek Bridge around 9:10am, and along Creek Way, stopping at the Community Garden around 9:40am — ending at the Old Dairy Hall for morning tea and peace cookies.
We live in interesting times — even as the climate crisis calls on our very human capacity for cooperation and cohesion as never before, we find our communities, and even ourselves and our families, increasingly fractured and disconnected. The bonds of love have a great strength, holding us and our dear ones firmly, but in these times we are perhaps being called to a deeper understanding of love, one that can reach across political, cultural, and even biological divides. Spiritual traditions have for millennia understood the importance of such a “boundless kinship” with other life, both human and other-than-human — and it has a strong basis in ecological fact: we are all connected. This talk explored the ways we can cultivate this very human instinct to connect and share, even in the face of conflict and division, and the role such practices have in engagement with polycrisis, even in our daily life. Held at the Old Dairy Hall.
All were welcome to join the Community Meditation Circle at the Old Dairy Hall for some brief remarks and a guided mindfulness meditation. No experience necessary.
